Get Packed for a Puerto Vallarta Vacation - Vacation To Puerto Vallarta
Thirty years ago, the Pacific coast of Mexico was fairly barren – populated by little farms and orchards amongst the fishing towns, and just handfuls of businesses to accommodate the particular needs of local residents. Today, Puerto Vallarta vacation travelers are the driving force behind the economic activity of an area that has been skillfully developed and specially planned to accommodate all interests.
Situated on the beautiful Bay of Bandera, a sky blue harbor nearly four miles in width, Puerto Vallarta’s water activities alone are the one of the main attractions.
Deep water ocean fishing in PV had been prevalent decades before it became a hot getaway. The warm, deep waters of the bay combined with large offshore and underwater formations that possess prey fish and other species, draw game fish in droves, and international visitors have fished these waters since the Thirties. Today, many PV Mexico vacations are based entirely around fishing and touring Bandera Bay. Gigantic tuna, marlin, and sailfish swim these warm waters, and the bay annually hosts humpback whales surfacing with their newborn young.
Swimming and diving these waters is also a fun experience that is easy to find and always an unforgettable encounter on any Puerto Vallarta Mexico vacation. Around the water, virtually anywhere you look someone is operating a scuba and snorkeling guide service. The famous Los Arcos national underwater park is dotted with a series of islands and volcanic rock formations. The underwater hiding places attracts myriad species of fish and ocean animals, making it one of the most popular dive destinations in the western hemisphere.
Although there is so much to offer in PV Mexico still has an informal and unpretentious existence for its populace outside of the usual tourist destinations. Not far from Puerto Vallarta are lots of small communities with a charisma and welcoming draw, but that do not get the crowds of PV so they could be a great place to really get away from it all, or a more casual setting for a PV spring break excursion.
Sayulita is a little fishing village north of PV. Except during the holidays, Sayulita is not real popular among tourists. Of late the area has seen a few bungalows constructed along the beach and while food and lodging have been enhanced, the predominant theme is still renting two- or three-room homes or small beachfront cabins, and dining at one of the fabulous beach grills run by locals who likely serve the same dishes they serve their own families.
Yelapa and San Francisco are two villages not even the size of Sayulita, but are interesting alternatives during a Puerto Vallarta vacation. There is extremely limited electricity or telephones in the area and the sole hotel in Yelapa gets electricity from a diesel generator until after dark, when candlelight has to suffice. Time slows down a bit here, and if you just accept the little inconveniences you can find real solace. Looking for Traveling To Puerto Vallarta Mexico?
